August blooms...

That perfume!

By mid winter the cold, wet, muddy, grey weather gets interrupted beautifully with shards of poetic long light, romantic mists, and when its time, a beautiful perfume that only comes when the air is crisp. Its Daffodil and Jonquil season in Victoria’s gold fields and there’s good reason to get amongst it.

The soft, to bright, yellows dazzle our countryside as if to check if you’re looking. And in the cafe’s and restaurants you might be lucky enough to sit amongst freshly picked morsels to share your repose. At Leila, it’s a beautiful time to pop the kettle on and sit either looking at the bulbs in bloom, warm from inside or to rug up and poke around in your gumboots outdoors, to see who’s here, first hand.

There are a few more to blooms yet come, and with the near by Kyneton Daffodil festival - August 27th to September 10th 2023 - the local show of these flowers are just getting started.
